I too have been to Holme Fen - indeed I have danced there. (I’ve not been to Been Nevis) It was strange feeling the road shake as forty-odd Morris dancers danced in the road. I was surprised you didn’t mention the cast iron posts that were sunk into the fen soon after it was drained, and now stand several metres up from the ground as the peat shrank
